CELEBRATION BIBLE STUDY NOTES

The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6 He is not here;
he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. 7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples:
‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you”
 ⇝  Matthew 28: 5-7

1. SCENE ONE: “Crime Scene”

THE EMPTY TOMB

“So they went in (the tomb) — but the Lord Jesus’ body was gone.”  ⇝  Luke 24:3

“When the chief priests had met with the elders and devised a plan, they gave the soldiers a large sum of money, telling them, ‘You are to say, His disciples came during the night and stole him away while we were asleep.’”  ⇝  Matt. 28:12-13

2. SCENE TWO: “Guard Interrogation”

EYEWITNESS TESTIMONY

“…they did not believe the women, because their words seemed to them like nonsense”  ⇝  Luke 24:11

“He appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. After that, He appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. Then He appeared to James, then to all the apostles, and last of all He appeared to me also…”  ⇝  I Corinthians 15:5-8 (NIV)

3. SCENE THREE: “Scribe Interview”

EMERGENCE OF THE CHURCH

“Then Peter stood up… raised his voice and addressed the crowd. . ‘God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of the fact’.”  ⇝  Acts 2:14, 32 (NIV)

4. SCENE FOUR: “CSI: CONCLUSIONS”

Eyewitness accounts + Empty tomb + Emergence of the church= Overwhelming Evidence that the Resurrection is True.

“Jesus said, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me will live, even though he dies.’”  ⇝  John 11:25 (NIV)
