Part Two: Stuck In A Toxic Relationship

Toxic is: when two people are stuck in a way of relating that’s poisoning them both.

• We ALL have toxic family members.
• All toxic relationships are not equal.
• When it’s toxic, you must act.
• You may be the toxic one!

Fact number 1. I am not God.

Fact number 2. I cannot force someone else to change their mind.

Proverbs 4:23 “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”

Your heart is out of balance because you have someone in your life who is out of control.

. Romans 13:13 “Let’s behave decently, as in the daytime, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissention and jealousy.”

It’s the someone’s controlling someone else problem.

Galatians 5:1 “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”

CONTROL BY ANGER…GUILT

Love others without rescuing… Confront In Love

Galatians 6:2 “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ…verse 5: each one should carry their own load.”

SKILLS TO LEARN:

 – Start From a Position Of Love

  – Say No when It’s Best To Say No.

 

– Give Consequences If Necessary
