When the Fig Tree Doesn’t Blossom
- The Prophet Remembered God’s Power
Habakkuk 3:1-2 “A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet On shigionoth. Lord, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, Lord. Repeat them in our day, in our time make them known; in wrath remember mercy”.
Psalm 77:11 “I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.”
Isaiah 46:9 Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me.
- The Prophet Chose Worship in the Waiting
Habakkuk 3:16 (NLT) I will wait quietly for the coming day when disaster will strike the people who invade us.
Romans 8:25 But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.
III. The Prophet Rejoiced Before the Harvest
Habakkuk 3:17-18 “Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.”
Acts 16:25 “About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them.”
1 Thessalonians 5:18 “…give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
- God Becomes Strength For The Climb
Habakkuk 3:19 “The Sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to tread on the heights.”
