Studies have shown that there is a correlation between how old you are and how grateful you are. Guess which way that correlation goes? The older you are, the more grateful you are. That’s kind of weird, isn’t it?

The more wrinkled your skin, the more gray hairs you have, the worse your vision, the flabbier you’re getting, I mean did you ever dream that one day you could have flabby knees? the more stuff that doesn’t work anymore, the more your heart is filled with gratitude.

The decade in which people experience the most daily gratitude is when they are in their 70’s.

That’ll happen for me in another 40 or 50 years, and I’m looking forward to it so much.

People who make less money experience more gratitude in their daily lives than people who make more money.

That doesn’t make any sense. It ought to be for every dollar that comes in, that’s a good thing. You just get more and more grateful. But studies show the opposite. Not saying that having money makes you ungrateful. No, having money, but not living in Florida, that makes you ungrateful.

Don’t grumble about anything.

Stuck in traffic? Brace yourselves. Season is here which means everyone will suddenly forget how to drive. But don’t grumble. While you are sitting in your car, someone else is riding a bike to work and would gladly trade places with you. You have picked up your husbands socks for 35 years. Do not grumble.

There are those who would love to have that opportunity just one more time. I grumble when the weather gets below 60 degrees.

Should I be required to experience at least one winter in Wisconsin to appreciate Florida? No.

I start to see every moment, every beat of my heart, every breath… It’s all a gift. Do everything without grumbling. Gratitude means I perceive something good coming into my life. and it’s a gift I did not deserve.

We are finishing our Bible Study on 1 Thessalonians so I leave you with this verse…1 Thessalonians 5:18

“Give thanks in all circumstances for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”  Then in Colossians 2:7 “Let your lives overflow with joy and thanksgiving.”
