Weekly Devotion – Build The Boat

A 7-Day Devotional Journey

MONDAY — LOOKING BACK WITH GRATITUDE
Scripture: Psalm 103:2
“Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits.”
Devotional Thought:
Before you rush into what’s next, pause and look back—not with guilt, but with gratitude. Even in the hardest seasons, God was present. Gratitude shifts our focus from what went wrong to how God carried us through.
You may not celebrate everything that happened this year, but you can thank God for His faithfulness in it. Gratitude is the first step toward finishing strong.
Reflection Question:
Where did I see God’s faithfulness this past year, even in difficult moments?
Prayer:
Lord, help me see this past year through Your eyes. Thank You for carrying me, teaching me, and sustaining me. Amen.
TUESDAY — LETTING GO
Scripture: Hebrews 12:1
“Let us throw off everything that hinders…”
Devotional Thought:
Not everything belongs in the next season. Some burdens were never meant to be carried this far. Guilt, resentment, fear, and unrealistic expectations will only slow you down.
Letting go isn’t weakness—it’s obedience. God invites you to travel lighter so you can move forward stronger.
Reflection Question:
What am I still carrying that God is asking me to release?
Prayer:
God, give me the courage to let go of what no longer belongs in my life. I trust You with what I release. Amen.
WEDNESDAY — FINISHING FAITHFUL
Scripture: Galatians 6:9
“Let us not grow weary in doing good…”
Devotional Thought:
Faithfulness rarely feels glamorous. It looks like consistency, obedience, and perseverance when no one is applauding. If you stayed faithful—even quietly—you finished stronger than you think.
God honors faithfulness, not flash. And He sees every step you took.
Reflection Question:
Where have I remained faithful, even when it felt unnoticed?
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for seeing what others may not. Help me remain faithful, trusting You with the results. Amen.
THURSDAY — ON PURPOSE
Scripture: Proverbs 16:3
“Commit to the Lord whatever you do…”
Devotional Thought:
New beginnings don’t happen by accident. They happen when we choose direction over drift. God isn’t asking for perfect plans—He’s asking for surrendered steps.
One intentional decision today can shape the entire year ahead.
Reflection Question:
What is one intentional step God is calling me to take next?
Prayer:
God, I commit my plans to You. Order my steps and guide my decisions. Amen.
FRIDAY — HOPE AHEAD
Scripture: Isaiah 43:19
“See, I am doing a new thing!”
Devotional Thought:
Hope doesn’t ignore reality—it trusts God in it. Even if you can’t see what’s ahead, God already can. The future isn’t uncertain to Him.
Hope grows when we remember that God goes before us.
Reflection Question:
Where do I need to replace fear with trust today?
Prayer:
Lord, remind me that You are already ahead of me. Fill my heart with hope for what’s coming. Amen.
SATURDAY — STILL STANDING
Scripture: 2 Corinthians 4:8–9
“We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed…”
Devotional Thought:
If you’re still standing, God is still working. Survival itself is evidence of grace. Strength isn’t always about conquering—it’s about enduring.
Celebrate the fact that you’re here. God hasn’t finished with you yet.
Reflection Question:
How has God strengthened me in ways I didn’t recognize?
Prayer:
God, thank You for sustaining me. Renew my strength and prepare me for what’s next. Amen.
SUNDAY — ALREADY THERE
Scripture: Revelation 21:5
“He who was seated on the throne said, ‘I am making everything new!’”
Devotional Thought:
God isn’t waiting for the new year to start working—He’s already there. Every ending becomes sacred when we trust God with the beginning.
Step forward today knowing you don’t walk alone. The God who carried you here will lead you forward.
Reflection Question:
What does it look like to step into the future trusting God fully?
Prayer:
Lord, I step into the new season trusting You. Thank You for going before me and walking with me. Amen.
Sermon Notes – 12-21-25 – A Charlie Brown Christmas Part Three: Are You A Linus?

Monday–Sunday Devotional
MONDAY — Are You Charlie Brown?
Scripture:
“The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us.” — John 1:14
Reflection:
Charlie Brown feels overwhelmed, unseen, and unsure. Many of us enter December the same way. But the message of Christmas is simple: God came close. He stepped into our real lives—not the polished version, but the messy one. When life feels confusing, Jesus draws near.
Prompt:
Where do I feel overwhelmed this week, and how can I invite Jesus into it?
Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for coming close. Meet me where I feel most like Charlie Brown.
TUESDAY — When Joy Feels Hard to Find
Scripture:
“Store up for yourselves treasures in heaven…” — Matthew 6:19–21
Reflection:
Charlie Brown couldn’t find joy because he was surrounded by distractions. Chase what shines, and you’ll miss what saves. Christmas joy is not found in things, but in Christ. When your heart focuses on heaven, your joy returns.
Prompt:
What shiny distractions compete for my attention this week?
Prayer:
Lord, shift my focus from what glitters to what matters.
WEDNESDAY — Are You Snoopy? (Commercialism’s Trap)
Scripture:
“Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” — Matthew 6:21
Reflection:
Snoopy entered his doghouse in a Christmas decorating contest. He wasn’t trying to celebrate—he was trying to impress. Commercialism promises joy but produces distraction. When we chase the spotlight, our hearts drift from Jesus.
Prompt:
Am I decorating my “life” to impress or to honor God?
Prayer:
God, guard my heart from chasing applause. Help me treasure You above everything else.
THURSDAY — Are You Lucy? (Becoming More Than Buying)
Scripture:
“Do not store up treasures on earth…” — Matthew 6:19
Reflection:
Lucy wants status—leadership, recognition, and control. Her Christmas becomes about becoming important rather than becoming loving. But Christmas isn’t about what you buy or achieve—it’s about who you are becoming in Christ.
Prompt:
Where is God calling me to become more loving, gentle, or patient?
Prayer:
Lord, form my character this season. Make me more like Jesus, not more like Lucy.
FRIDAY — Slow Down Before You Miss What’s Right in Front of You
Scripture:
“The Word became flesh…” — John 1:14
Reflection:
Don’t let the noise of Christmas around you make you miss the Savior right in front of you. Slow down. Look up. God is moving in the small moments—conversations, quiet mornings, simple joys—just like Charlie Brown discovered when the little tree began to shine.
Prompt:
What noise do I need to quiet today in order to notice God’s presence?
Prayer:
Jesus, help me slow down and see You clearly.
SATURDAY — The Gift of Being Still (Family Activity)
Scripture:
“Be still and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10
Reflection:
Being by water—like a lake—brings calm, clarity, and connection. Studies show it reduces stress, improves sleep, boosts immunity, and enhances mental health. God often speaks when we are still enough to listen.
Family Activity:
Take 5 minutes together outdoors or by a quiet window.
Each person shares:
“What simple thing has helped me feel close to God this season?”
Prompt:
What stillness can I practice today?
Prayer:
Lord, quiet my soul. Bring peace to me and my family.
SUNDAY — Becoming Who God Created You to Be
Scripture:
“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” — Matthew 6:21
Reflection:
Christmas shapes who we become. Become attentive, not distracted. Become peaceful, not hurried. Become compassionate, not commercial. The world may chase what shines—but we are called to follow what saves.
Prompt:
Who does Jesus want me to become this Christmas?
Prayer:
Father, shape my heart today. Help me become the person You desire me to be.

“For unto you is born this day… a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.” — Luke 2:11
Christmas isn’t about perfection but a Savior entering our real, imperfect world—just like Charlie Brown
searching for meaning.
Prompt: Where have I expected Christmas to fill a need only Christ can fill?
Prayer: Jesus, center my heart on You today.
TUESDAY — When the Tree Looks Too Small
“Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” — 1 Samuel 16:7
God often uses small, ordinary things—like Charlie Brown’s tree—to show extraordinary truth.
Prompt: What small thing might God want to use in my life?
Prayer: Lord, help me value what You value.
WEDNESDAY — When You Feel Like You Don’t Fit In
“Come to Me, all who are weary… and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28
Like Charlie Brown, we often feel out of place. Jesus meets us in our weariness and brings rest.
Prompt: What weariness do I need to bring honestly to Christ?
Prayer: Jesus, give my heart rest today.
THURSDAY — Peace on Earth
“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace…” — Luke 2:14
Peace doesn’t come from perfect circumstances but from God’s presence with us.
Prompt: Where do I need God’s peace today?
Prayer: Lord, let Your peace quiet my worries.
FRIDAY — Let Your Light Shine
“Let your light shine before others…” — Matthew 5:16
Like the little tree transformed when everyone joined in, God uses His people shining together.
Prompt: How can I shine Christ’s light in one simple way today?
Prayer: God, help me reflect Your light today.
SATURDAY — A Christmas Family Activity
“Love one another as I have loved you.” — John 15:12
Love is the heart of Christmas. Families reflect Christ when they pause and share joy together.
Family Activity: Each person shares one simple thing that brings them joy at Christmas. Pray together
afterward.
Prompt: Who in my family needs extra grace this week?
Prayer: Lord, help our home be filled with grace and joy.
SUNDAY — That’s What Christmas Is All About
“The Word became flesh and dwelt among us…” — John 1:14
Because Christ came, fear loses its grip—just like Linus dropping his blanket.
Prompt: What fear do I need to lay before God today?
Prayer: Father, thank You for being God with us. Strengthen my trust in You.
Daily Devotional – Christmas Survival Guide

MONDAY – One Little Burp From Reality
Scripture: “And it came to pass…” — Luke 2:1
Reflection: Christmas began in chaos—travel, stress, crowds. Just like December today. Yertle the Turtle reminds us we’re all just one “little burp” away from realizing we are not the center. That’s good news—because Jesus is the One holding everything together.
Thought for the Day:
I am not the throne-sitter. Jesus is.
Prayer: Lord, help me release control and remember You are on the throne today.
TUESDAY – Limited in Space, Unlimited in Presence
Scripture: “Where can I go from Your Spirit? … Even there Your hand will guide me.” — Psalm 139:8–10
Reflection: You can’t be everywhere—your calendar will try to convince you otherwise. But God already stands in every room you enter, every conversation you fear, every place you can’t be. His presence fills the gaps your limitations can’t.
Thought for the Day: Where I cannot be, God already is.
Prayer: God, fill the spaces I cannot reach today. Go before me and guide me.
WEDNESDAY – Limited in Time, Unlimited in Eternity
Scripture: “A thousand years in Your sight are like a day…” — Psalm 90:4
Reflection: December squeezes your time, but God is never rushed. He sees your pressures, deadlines, and expectations—and He remains steady. You may feel stretched thin, but the Eternal God steps into your limited hours with unlimited peace.
Thought for the Day: I may not have enough time—
but I have the God who holds all time.
Prayer: Lord, steady my heart when my schedule feels overwhelming.
THURSDAY – Limited in Power, Unlimited in Strength
Scripture: “Nations are in an uproar… He lifts His voice, and the earth melts.” — Psalm 46:6
Reflection: You can’t fix everything or carry everyone’s expectations—but God can. When He speaks, chaos bows. When He lifts His voice, fear melts. Christmas peace isn’t found in more effort, but in leaning on His power, not yours.
Thought for the Day: When I am powerless, God is powerful.
Prayer: God, speak into my stress and steady my spirit with Your strength.
FRIDAY – Limited in Riches, Unlimited in Christ
Scripture: “Though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor…” — 2 Corinthians 8:9
Reflection: Budgets feel tight and gift lists feel long—but Christmas was never about what you can buy. It was about Christ stepping into poverty so your soul could be rich in grace, hope, and mercy. He is the wealth your heart truly needs.
Thought for the Day: I am rich because Christ came for me.
Prayer: Jesus, thank You for becoming poor so I could be rich in Your grace.
SATURDAY – Limited in Perspective, Unlimited in His View
Scripture: “Better what the eye sees than the roving of the appetite.” — Ecclesiastes 6:9
Reflection: It’s easy to focus on what’s missing, what’s next, or what’s undone. God invites you to slow down and see the blessing right in front of you. Gratitude grows when attention stops wandering and begins noticing.
Thought for the Day: Today I choose to enjoy what I already have.
Prayer: Lord, help me see the blessings right in front of me today.
SUNDAY – Limited in Control, Unlimited in His Care
Scripture: “Better to have little with fear of the Lord than great treasure and turmoil.” — Proverbs 15:16
Reflection: Peace is better than plenty. The world says “get more,” but God says “rest more.” Christmas isn’t about controlling outcomes—it’s about trusting the God who cares for every detail of your life. Less turmoil. More trust.
Thought for the Day: Peace comes not from having more, but from trusting God more.
Prayer: Father, give me Your peace today. Help me start the week trusting Your care over every detail.
