Daily Devotion – Show Up Anyway

Monday – Faith Grows in the Storm

Scripture: “Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together…but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” – Hebrews 10:24–25

Reflection:
Faith doesn’t grow when everything is easy. It grows when the wind is against you, the sky is gray, and comfort calls your name. Storms aren’t signs that God is absent—they’re opportunities to deepen your roots in Him.

Prayer:
Lord, when I feel like staying home or giving up, remind me that my presence can encourage someone else.

Takeaway:
Send a short text of encouragement to one person today who might be struggling.

Tuesday – Showing Up Encourages Others

Scripture: “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:11

Reflection:
Sometimes you’re the one who needs encouragement. Other times, you are the encourager. When you show up—at church, in friendship, at work—you may be the answer to someone’s prayer.

Prayer:
Father, make me aware of the people who need my presence and my words today.

Takeaway:
Smile and greet someone you normally pass by without talking to.

Wednesday – Faith Is Proven When It’s Hard

Scripture: “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” – John 16:33

Reflection:
True faith isn’t about showing up when the sun is shining and everything feels right—it’s about showing up when it’s difficult, inconvenient, or costly.

Prayer:
God, give me strength to be faithful in difficult moments. Remind me that You are worth any inconvenience.

Takeaway:
Do one small act of service today that costs you time, comfort, or convenience.

Thursday – Trust God More Than Comfort

Scripture: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” – Proverbs 3:5

Reflection:
We often choose comfort over calling. But comfort has never transformed a life—faith has. When you trust God more than your own ease, you’re saying, “Lord, You’re worth the stretch.”

Prayer:
Lord, help me to trade my comfort for Your calling.

Takeaway:
Step out of your routine today—do something that stretches your faith.

Friday – Don’t Wait for Perfect Conditions

Scripture: “Whoever watches the wind will not plant; whoever looks at the clouds will not reap.” – Ecclesiastes 11:4

Reflection:
There will always be reasons to delay obedience—weather, schedules, moods. But the harvest belongs to those who work, even in the rain. Don’t wait for perfect conditions to serve a perfect Savior.

Prayer:
Jesus, help me obey even when it’s not convenient.

Takeaway:
Say “yes” to one opportunity to help someone today, even if the timing isn’t perfect.

Saturday – Church Is a People, Not a Place

Scripture: “Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.” – 1 Corinthians 12:27

Reflection:
Church isn’t about a building or a program—it’s about a family of believers. We show up because we belong to each other, not because it’s on the calendar.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the people You’ve placed in my spiritual family.

Takeaway:
Call or visit someone from your church family today just to check in.

Family Activity:
Write down 3–5 names of people from church who might need encouragement. As a family, make cards or record short video messages telling them you’re praying for them. Deliver them in person if possible.

Sunday – Show Up Anyway

Scripture: “Awake, sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.” – Ephesians 5:14

Reflection:
Sometimes storms wake us up—not to stay in bed, but to show up in faith. The enemy wants to use difficulty to keep you away from God’s people. God wants to use difficulty to draw you closer.

Prayer:
Lord, I will show up for You, for my church, and for the mission You’ve given me—no matter the weather.

Takeaway:
Attend worship today with the intention of encouraging at least one person.

Family Activity:
After church, have a “faith talk” over lunch. Ask each family member:

  1. What’s one way someone encouraged you today?
  2. What’s one way you can encourage someone this week?

Balance Series – Week 3 – Mental Balance Schedule

Balance: Week 3 Daily Meditation Guide

🧠 Mental Balance: When Your Mind Won’t Stop

Devotional Week
Theme Scripture:
“Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts.”Proverbs 4:23 (GNT)

Monday – The Mind That Races

Reflection:
Ever lay down at night with a brain buzzing like a beehive? Solomon calls this “anxious striving” (Ecclesiastes 2:22–23). Your to-do list won’t sleep, and neither do you. But God doesn’t want your mind to run your life—He wants to renew it.

Scripture:
“All their days their work is grief and pain; even at night their minds do not rest.” – Ecclesiastes 2:23

Takeaway Thought:
Rest is a holy act. You don’t have to fix everything tonight. Let God hold what you can’t.

Prayer:
God, help me release the things that keep my mind racing. Give me peace and rest in You.

Tuesday – What You Feed, Grows

Reflection:
Romans 8:6 reminds us that what we think about shapes the direction of our lives. If you let the Spirit guide your thoughts, peace follows. But if your mind is consumed with worst-case scenarios, anxiety multiplies.

Scripture:
“Letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.” – Romans 8:6

Takeaway Thought:
Feed your mind what is true, lovely, and noble—not what is fearful, negative, and draining.

Prayer:
Holy Spirit, take the driver’s seat of my thoughts. Lead me toward Your peace.

Wednesday – Replacing Lies with Truth

Reflection:
Dr. Paul David Tripp says, “No one is more influential in your life than you are, because no one talks to you more than you do.” What lies are you listening to? That you’re not enough? That things will never change? Replace them with God’s truth.

Scripture:
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” – Romans 12:2

Takeaway Thought:
God’s Word is the greatest fact-checker for our false thoughts.

Prayer:
Lord, show me the lies I’ve believed. Let Your truth shape my identity and direction.

Thursday – Stop the Spiral

Reflection:
Overthinking is like a cow chewing its cud—repeating the same thought again and again. But you’re not called to chew anxiety—you’re called to trust. When your mind spirals, speak truth to it.

Scripture:
“Why, my soul, are you downcast? … Put your hope in God.” – Psalm 42:5

Takeaway Thought:
You are allowed to interrupt your overthinking with praise.

Prayer:
Father, help me talk to myself like David did—encouraging myself in You.

Friday – Family Focus: Create a “Peace Table”

Activity:
Set up a small table in your home as a “Peace Table.” Add a Bible, a candle, calming verses, and space for each family member to write a note of thanks or prayer. Spend 5–10 minutes there as a family. No phones. Just connection and stillness.

Scripture:
“You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you.” – Isaiah 26:3

Takeaway Thought:
Families flourish when they slow down together.

Prayer:
Jesus, let our home be filled with Your peace and presence.

Saturday – Go on a Negativity Fast

Reflection:
A negativity fast isn’t about ignoring hard things—it’s about choosing not to dwell on them. Today, catch every negative thought and challenge it. Speak gratitude instead. It’s one day to train your brain for truth.

Scripture:
“Whatever is true, noble, right, pure… think about such things.” – Philippians 4:8

Takeaway Thought:
Your mind is not a dumping ground—it’s a sacred space.

Prayer:
Lord, help me fast from fear and feast on faith today.

Sunday – Reset Your Rhythm

Reflection:
The Sabbath is not just about rest; it’s about rhythm. One day to reset your mental space, realign with God, and release the weight. You’re not built to carry the world—you’re built to walk with the One who does.

Scripture:
“Come to Me… I’ll show you how to take a real rest… Walk with Me and work with Me…” – Matthew 11:28–29 (MSG)

Takeaway Thought:
A rested mind hears God more clearly.

Prayer:
Jesus, teach me the unforced rhythms of grace. Quiet my mind and renew my soul.

A Glimpse into Beverly’s Angels – Making a Real Difference

Pastor James Henderson with Founder Faith Schwalback and Benny Bear

Pastor James Henderson was given a tour of Beverly’s Angels, a local charity tucked away in a modest building. He adjusted his collar, feeling a mix of curiosity and anticipation. He’d heard whispers about the organization’s work—how they brought light to children caught in life’s darkest moments—but today, he’d been granted a VIP tour to see it for himself.

Inside, the air buzzed with quiet purpose. Volunteers moved with care, their hands folding tiny shirts, sorting socks, and tucking soft, handcrafted stuffed animals into packages. The director, a woman with kind eyes and a tireless spirit, greeted James warmly. “Welcome, Pastor,” she said. “We’re here to make sure no child feels alone in their pain.”

She led him to a table where a group of women stitched together plush bears, each one crafted with love. “This is Benny’s Bear,” the director explained, handing him a soft, brown teddy with a stitched smile. “It’s more than a toy. For a child in crisis—maybe in a hospital bed or a shelter—it’s a friend who stays when everything else feels uncertain.” James clutched the bear, imagining the small hands that would hold it tight, finding solace in its softness.

The tour continued through rooms filled with neatly organized bundles. One corner held stacks of cozy pajamas, another had rows of clothing for boys and girls of all ages—each item carefully chosen to bring dignity and warmth. “Every bundle has the essentials,” the director said, pointing to a package with underwear, socks, and a toothbrush. “We want these kids to feel seen, to know someone cares.”

James paused at a display of handwritten notes tucked into the bundles. “You are strong. You are loved,” one read. His throat tightened. These weren’t just supplies; they were lifelines, woven with compassion for children navigating trauma.

As he walked back to his car, Benny’s Bear still in his hands, James felt a spark ignite. His congregation at Celebration Beach Church could be part of this. Beverly’s Angels wasn’t just a charity; it was a mission to restore hope, one child at a time. He knew he’d be sharing their story soon, rallying his community to join hands with these quiet heroes in Naples, Florida, who were stitching love into every seam.

Week 2 – 7 Day Devotional: Physical Balance

7-Day Devotional: PHYSICAL BALANCE

Series: Balance – Week 2
Theme: Honoring God with Our Bodies

Day 1: Sacred Strength

📖 3 John 1:2
“I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you even as your soul is getting along well.”

📝 Reflection:
Our spiritual health and physical well-being are deeply connected. God desires both to thrive. If you’re emotionally strong but physically exhausted, you may struggle to carry out your calling. Let this be a reminder that tending to your health is not selfish—it’s sacred.

Question:
What is one step you can take today to align your physical habits with your spiritual health?

🙏 Prayer:
Lord, I invite You into my physical health. Give me strength to care for the body You’ve entrusted to me. Amen.

Day 2: Temple Perspective

📖 1 Corinthians 6:19
“Don’t you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God?”

📝 Reflection:
You wouldn’t ignore damage to a church building—yet we often neglect the very temple God resides in. Honoring your body is honoring His presence.

Question:
What habits reflect how you honor God’s temple?

🙏 Prayer:
Holy Spirit, thank You for dwelling in me. Help me treat this body as sacred space. Amen.

Day 3: Self-Control is Soul-Care

📖 Titus 2:12
“We should live in this evil world with self-control, right conduct, and devotion to God.”

📝 Reflection:
Self-control isn’t restriction—it’s freedom. The fruit of the Spirit includes it for a reason. Your body responds to your boundaries.

Question:
What is one area where you need to exercise more Spirit-led self-control?

🙏 Prayer:
Build in me the fruit of self-control, Lord. Help me honor the practices that renew me. Amen.

Day 4: Facing the Lies

📖 Romans 6:13
“Use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God.”

📝 Reflection:
Excuses keep us stuck. Your body isn’t a side project—it’s a vehicle for God’s glory. Replace lies with truth.

Question:
What lie about your body have you believed?

🙏 Prayer:
Father, reveal the lies I’ve believed and renew my mind with Your truth. Amen.

Day 5: What’s Mastering You?

📖 1 Corinthians 6:12–13
“Everything is permissible for me—but I will not be mastered by anything.”

📝 Reflection:
Phones, food, fatigue—what’s controlling you? Reclaiming your physical balance is reclaiming your freedom in Christ.

Question:
What’s been mastering you—and what needs to change?

🙏 Prayer:
I want to be ruled by Your Spirit, not by cravings. Help me, Lord. Amen.

Day 6: A Little Exercise Goes a Long Way

📖 1 Timothy 4:8
“Physical exercise has some value…”

📝 Reflection:
God’s Word honors physical health. You don’t have to be perfect—just consistent. Every good habit is an act of worship.

Question:
How can you move this week to energize your body and soul?

🙏 Prayer:
God, thank You for a body that moves. Let me care for it with joy and balance. Amen.

Day 7: What God Sees IN You

📖 1 Thessalonians 4:4
“Each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorable.”

📝 Reflection:
You’ll never see what God has for you until you see what He sees in you. Your discipline is preparation for greater purpose.

Question:
Do you view your physical life as holy and honorable?

🙏 Prayer:
Reshape how I see myself, Lord. I want to honor You—body, mind, and spirit. Amen.

Week One – 7 Day Devotional – Emotional Balance Series

Part One: Emotional Balance

📅 7-Day Devotional: Emotional Balance

Series: Balance – Week 1
Theme: Managing Overwhelm & Restoring Emotional Health
Key Scripture: Matthew 11:28
“Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

🕊️ Monday – Day 1 – Recognize Your Value

📖 Matthew 6:25–27
God doesn’t measure your worth by what you get done. He treasures you because you are His. When emotions swirl, anxiety creeps in, or exhaustion hits, pause and remind yourself: You matter.
Reflection: What lie have you believed about your value? Speak truth over it today.
Prayer Prompt: “Lord, help me rest in who You say I am, not what I produce.”

🧭 Tuesday – Day 2 – Let Go of Pleasing Everyone

📖 Matthew 26:7–11
Even Jesus wasn’t universally accepted or understood. Someone always had an opinion—even about His acts of love. Trying to keep everyone happy is a fast track to burnout.
Reflection: Where are you saying “yes” out of guilt instead of guidance?
Prayer Prompt: “Jesus, give me courage to say no where You haven’t asked me to say yes.”

🛑 Wednesday – Day 3 – Withdraw to Be Refreshed

📖 Matthew 13:36
Jesus stepped away from the crowd and entered the house. It wasn’t running from responsibility—it was resting for readiness. You’re allowed to walk away to fill up.
Reflection: What’s one “crowd” you need to step away from this week—social media, constant notifications, or a draining environment?
Prayer Prompt: “Father, help me carve space to breathe, rest, and reset in Your presence.”

🤫 Thursday – Day 4 – Be Quiet on Purpose

📖 Matthew 11:28–29
Stillness is hard when everything is loud. But quiet is the invitation where the soul hears God best. Let the noise subside.
Reflection: Can you give God 5 minutes of silence today? Set a timer, take deep breaths, and simply be.
Prayer Prompt: “God, meet me in the quiet. Teach me Your unforced rhythms of grace.”

💬 Friday – Day 5 – Talk to God Honestly

📖 Psalm 62:8
“Pour out your heart before Him…”—God invites your full emotional range. He doesn’t shame your struggle.
Reflection: Write down what you’re honestly feeling today, and offer it up in prayer.
Prayer Prompt: “Lord, I don’t have to clean up my emotions to come to You. I bring my real self.”

🧡 Saturday – Day 6 – Refuel Through Soul-Giving Relationships

📖 Ecclesiastes 4:9–10
You weren’t meant to handle everything alone. Jesus had friends. So should you.
Reflection: Who in your life helps fill your emotional tank? Reach out or plan time with them this week.
Prayer Prompt: “God, thank You for the people who lift me up. Help me be that for someone else, too.”

🕯️ Sunday – Day 7 – Live Light and Freely

📖 Matthew 11:29
Jesus doesn’t lay burdens on you. He lifts them. Life with Him isn’t performance—it’s peace.
Reflection: What is one burden you need to lay down today to walk in emotional balance?
Prayer Prompt: “Jesus, help me walk in step with You, not in stress for everyone else.”
